Collision Analysis & Software – This module surveys the various vehicle dynamics simulations available for collisions and spin out trajectories. The students will be introduced to the main models such as SMAC, HVOSM, PC-Crash through various implementations of them eg EDSMAC. The assumptions of the underlying models will be explored and the advantages and disadvantages of the various models and implementations analysed. The emphasis will be on an overview of the various models rather than on a detailed derivation and manipulation of the equations for the models. A software package such as Mathcad will be used for numerical and symbolic computation.
