We have been made aware that some Microsoft email accounts, specifically hotmail.co.uk and hotmail.com email addresses, are not receiving notifications and some other messages from the VLE. They're not ending up in spam, they're just simply disappearing!
The issue has been investigated and is now resolved.
The cause seems to be that hotmail blocks messages which contain anything other than the sender's email address in the From: field in the header section of the email. By default Moodle prefixes some email address in the From: field with a short message indicating that the recipient should not reply to the email. That message is now suppressed and tests show that hotmail.co.uk and hotmail.com addresses (as well as outlook.com addresses) are being received correctly.
The message is designed to prompt you not to reply to the email and now of course that reminder is no longer present! However please do not attempt to reply to email notifications from the VLE. The email address we use now is not monitored and we cannot respond to any messages received at that mailbox.
Direct emails to and from your tutors, fellow students (or me) remain unaffected.
If similar issues arise in the future, with any email domain, do please let me know and we'll try and fix the problem.
